Susan Bonilla

Susan Bonilla was appointed to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Appeals Board in March 2019. In February 2020, Bonilla was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the California Pharmacists Association, the nation’s largest statewide pharmacists association representing the profession and all pharmacy practice settings. There, she is responsible for making major corporate decisions, managing the overall operations and resources, and acts as the main representative for the Board of Trustees. Prior to this role, Bonilla served as California State Director of Council for a Strong America (CSA). CSA is a nonprofit made up of business executives, law enforcement leaders, and retired generals and admirals working to promote evidence-based health and education solutions for children.
Previously, Bonilla served her community as a high school English teacher and spent eight years in local government. She served on the Concord City Council, as mayor, and as a member of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors. Bonilla was elected to the California State Assembly in 2010 and served six years in Sacramento. While in the Assembly, Bonilla chaired the Business and Professions and Consumer Protection Committee providing legislative oversight to the Department of Consumer Affairs, negotiating scope of practice and licensing issues, and working with a wide range of business interests in California.
