About Us
The California Alcoholic Beverage Control Appeals Board provides administrative review of Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control decisions.
In 1955, California established the Alcoholic Beverage Control Appeals Board in the Constitution. The quasi-judicial Board is independent of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The Board consists of three members appointed by the Governor. The Board issues written decisions that affirm, reverse, or remand the Department's decisions. The Board reviews the Department's final decisions on:
- Issuing a license,
- Placing conditions on a license,
- License protests, and
- Violations of the law.
